Safe Computing & Passwords   NEW! 

Wednesday, Mar 20, 2 – 3:15 p.m.  Classroom #111 and Online via Zoom

 

Most of us hate passwords.  And most of us are concerned about how to stay safe when using our computers and mobile devices.  Our instructor, Mike McMahon, will do a deep dive into both topics.  We will discuss the importance of establishing effective passwords, including the use of password manager software.  But beyond passwords, there are more important topics related to staying safe in our digital world.

 

The last 15 minutes will be devoted to your questions.

 

 

Why Google Photos?  NEW!

Google Photos is a free tool to organize, edit, share, and safely protect your photos and videos.  Our instructor, Mike McMahon, will review the basics of Google Photos for those who are new to the topic.  However, he will take it a step further and compare Google Photos to other choices you might have (e.g. Apple Photos, Amazon Prime Photos, etc.).  He will also explain how you might want to use Google Photos to compliment those other approaches.

Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze – which mapping app is best for you?

 

Our instructor, Mike McMahon, will cover the basics of each of these amazing apps in this Part 1 class.  Even if you use one or more of these apps now, you are sure to pick up a few handy tips.  Both iPhone and Android smartphone users will find this class informative and fun.

Comparing Mapping Apps – Part 2    NEW!

We will take a deeper dive into three amazing mapping apps – Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze in this class.

 

Our instructor, Mike McMahon, will discuss some of the advanced features that set these apps apart from each other.  Use of the apps for trip planning will be discussed.  Use of these mapping apps while traveling in Airplane mode will be covered.  We will survey the audience for tips and tricks that folks have found especially helpful.  Come join the learning and the fun.
